Obituary

Lucio Salazar, 87, of Iraan, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Iraan General Hospital.

Lucio was born on December 13, 1932, in Terlingua, Texas, to Ignacio and Luz Salazar. He moved to Iraan in 1997 after he retired from the City of Lubbock after 16 and a half years of service in the maintenance department. Lucio loved gardening and animals, especially his horses. He enjoyed football and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. Lucio was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Iraan.

Lucio was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Luz Salazar; two children, Lucio Salazar Jr. in 1952, and Nalia Salazar in 1957; siblings, Bartolow Hernandez, Leonisa Davila, Simona Valquez, Senaida Hernandez, and Jovita Quitanilla.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Anita Salazar of Iraan; children, Rosario Santistevan and husband John of Denver, CO, Robert Salazar and wife Delores of Commerce City, CO, and James Salazar and wife Lisa of Denver, CO; siblings, Michala Martinez, Amilia Liel, Alicia Garcia, and Rita Hernandez, all of Littlefield; grandchildren, Monica Santistevan, Danny Santistevan, Trish Valdez, Bobby Salazar, Anthony Salazar and wife Brandy, Angela Salazar, James Salazar and wife Tasha, Megan Salazar, Lorenzo Salazar, Lauren Salazar, Ben Herrera, Christopher Herrera and Mariah Valdez; great grandchildren, James and Jordan Salazar, Isabella, Mario, and Angelo Salazar, Josie and Jeremy Salazar, and Lillie Salazar; and one great great granddaughter, Abrianna Herrera; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
